Project Description

Graffiti workshop success

Young people from Peterhead were gearing up for ‘Sharks in the Park’ last week with a graffiti workshop at the town’s Meethill skatepark.
The young people, aged between 10 and 16, came out in droves to see graffiti artist Marc Delaye at work, and also have a go themselves.
‘Sharks in the Park’ is an event which takes place every two years to raise funds for young people and community projects.
Commenting on the graffiti day, Community Worker Tev Warrander said: “It’s been a great day. The weather has been great and we’ve got the place ready for Sharks in the Park on Saturday.
“We have received funding in the past for arts projects from the Community Development Group and Community Voices. But we also organise Sharks in the Park to raise funds as well.
“The first phase of the project was to get the ramps for the skatepark, which we have now done. The second phase includes plans for a half-pipe, ramps and steps which is what we are raising funds for.
“We all hope that the second phase will be completed in the next couple of years so the kids who are currently involved can use the facilities,” he added.
