Street Art project “FIT FOR THE FUTURE” Inverness

Aims

-The workshop will aim to develop confidence within the group through the creative process.

-We will promote team work and collaboration between team members, in order to achieve a high standard of final artwork. Showing individual artwork within a coherent and colourful ensemble.

-The artwork will be inspired by the past/future use of the Grant street hall, via the temperance movement, the early 20th century architecture building and the future boxing club.

The group will learn can control to be able to work freehand and also severals helpful techniques, like how to use stencils, devide them into layers and how to use masking tape to get sharp edges.
SESSION 1

Meeting with the young people, presentation of the session.

Evaluation test, kids name on paper, handlettering, style writing.
The group will be asked to get familiar with notions:
fill, gradient, outline, 3d.

Break

Understanding of the temperance movement. We will be watching a series of old vintage posters for inspiration.

12.30-1.15
Brain storming session, looking for some words or catchy phrase to be used in the project.
Also background colour choice and the style of letters will be discussed.

Homework: The group collect ideas, bring magazines, prints, sketchbook for the next session

Collage and photomontage experiments.

Brain storming session, who/what/where

who is going to appear in the artwork (vintage characters, boxers, local kids…)
what are they doing ( their action in the scene)
where are they (which context, inside / outside scene, skyline, architecture…)

Homework: Facilitator create a design gathering all the kids ideas + paint order for the spray-cans

Safety advice and risks involved in the activity.

We will paint a base coat on the boards

Freehand techniques, reconise different caps (skinny caps, fat cap, outline cap, stencil cap)
Can control exercice between vapours and drips, how to colour in to get solid fill, dusting techniques for volumes.
